Usage

  • Verify product details (volume 0.5 mL, 29G x 12.7 mm, U-100 insulin) on the packaging before use.
  • Inspect the blister pack; do not use if the package is damaged, opened or the sterility is compromised.
  • Open the blister aseptically and remove the sterile syringe immediately before use.
  • Draw up the prescribed dose of U-100 insulin using the U-100 unit scale on the barrel.
  • For subcutaneous injection, prepare the injection site according to local protocol (e.g. clean skin and allow to dry).
  • Pinch or gently lift the skin fold if required and insert the needle subcutaneously (29G x 12.7 mm) at an appropriate angle (commonly 90° or as per clinical guidance).
  • Depress the plunger fully to deliver the full insulin dose.
  • While withdrawing the needle from the patient, activate the BD SafetyGlide™ shield using the one-handed activation technique recommended in the BD instructions (slide or press the shield forward until it locks with an audible or tactile click).
  • Confirm that the safety shield is locked over the needle and the needle tip is fully covered.
  • Immediately discard the used, shielded syringe into an approved sharps disposal container; do not recap, bend or manually remove the needle.
  • Do not reuse; this is a sterile, single-use device.
